AIS-R’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program

We are delighted to announce a significant and exciting new technology program here at AIS-R. The program is called 1:World and it will help us achieve our mission of educating our students to be responsible, productive and ethical world citizens. We believe that this program will empower students to become proactive, engaged and self-directed global learners, who navigate the digital world to find, critically evaluate and use information. Our students will understand how to harness the potential of their own technology tools to communicate effectively, learn anywhere, enhance collaboration, develop and maintain a healthy online identity (including social networking), reduce their global environmental footprint (through the use of e-texts and reduced printing), connect with the world in order to understand and positively change it, and experience individualized and self-directed learning.

We aim to achieve this, over the next three years, through a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) program wherein all AIS-R students, from Grade 3 to Grade 12, bring their own iPad or laptop to school every day. Asking families to provide the student devices will enable AIS-R to meet these goals in a cost-effective manner. The implementation plan is as follows:

BYOD

This type of BYOD initiative is being successfully implemented at many International Schools around the world and AIS-R is fortunate to be able to learn from their models. We are very excited about this new program and working with families over the next three years as we add more grade levels to the program.
